Event Specifics

The Insanity Mechanic is a new mechanic that applies a new overhead “Insanity” state.

Treated as a debuff, this status can be seen on units while in combat. Units will gain strong buffs for the first two states of Insanity, but will suffer greatly at the final stage of Insanity.

Certain maps are very lenient on the Insanity status, while others punish the players. For more information, check out the maps and strategies section.

Tentacle chests are a new addition to this event as well. Scattered around each map you will see these treasure chests, and within each are the event currencies; Talismans.

Opening a Tentacle Chest will grant the player that opens it Talismans, but also induce several possible effects, including applying Insanity to everyone around the chest, Paralyzing all units nearby, and spawning Tentacle monsters.

The Battlepass paid track offers a wealth of resources that a new player would love, such as more scrolls, gold, and meat.

For veteran players, the skins included in the battlepass look pretty high quality, so if soley based on skins, the Battlepass is worth it for them alone.

The true prize from the paid track for newbies and veterans however is the fourth captain slot, which will remain available for the duration of the entire event and until the next event’s beginning. For newbies and vets alike, this is a massive gain in progression.

All in all, this battlepass is worth getting the paid track.

Talismans

Talismans can be used to buy Talisman Chests, Event skins, and a Soul Vessel.

Players have the choice of buying the skins outright, or use the Talismans to possibly get them, along with scrolls, gold, and event tokens. The chances of getting the skins from the chests are pretty high, so if you are near the beginning of the event it would be wiser to use your Talismans on the chest. Conversely, if the event is nearing its end within a few days and you want a specific skin, it would be wise to buy it outright than to rely on luck.

The Soul Vessel is a must for veteran players and newbies alike, however it is a lower priority for new players who can’t immediately make use of it. New players should wait until near the end of the event to pick up the Soul Vessel to maximize their gains throughout the event, and then pick it up when the event is ending, or they can use the Souls feature.

Talisman Acquisition

For Newer Players

the easiest way to get Talismans is through the Talisman Chests that are scattered throughout the map. There will be competition for each of the chests, so choose which chest to snipe carefully.

For Veteran Players

Specific monsters in this event drops 25 currency per kill. The monsters include:

  • Big Shapeshifter
  • Cultist Librarian
  • Drowned Sailor
  • Killer Adept

Bosses that drop currencies include:

  • Dunwich Horror
  • Dunwich Mayor
  • Lady Dunwich
  • Shantak
  • C’thulu

While it is easy to snipe chests for vets, the absolute best way to gind Talismans is to wait for specific maps where there are many of the bigger monsters and save your epic potions for them to get the maximum amount of kills.
